Brand establishment

The BONEST GATTI brand originates from Germany and belongs to the German BONEST GATTI Precision Timepiece Holding Group Co., Ltd. It was a watch manufacturer headquartered in Pforzheim, Germany. BONEST GATTI Table craftsmanship is part of the long history of German manufacturing and aways pursuit of high quality. 

 

German Origins

BONEST GATTI traces its origins to Germany, where the brand developed from a traditional watchmaking workshop shaped by the country’s long-standing culture of precision craftsmanship.

From its earliest stage, the workshop focused on mechanical construction, detailed finishing and the relationship between engineering and design. Rather than treating a watch simply as an instrument for measuring time, its approach placed equal importance on structure, proportion and visual character — ideas that would later become central to the identity of BONEST GATTI.

The brand’s German roots continue to influence its design philosophy today: precise, mechanical and disciplined, yet never limited by convention.

A New Chapter

In 1999, the workshop entered a new stage of development under new ownership led by Richard Wells. This transition marked the beginning of BONEST GATTI as a modern watch brand.

During the following years, the brand gradually moved beyond the traditional language of classical watchmaking. Mechanical structures became increasingly visible, cases became more architectural, and the interaction between movement, materials and exterior design became a defining part of the BONEST GATTI aesthetic.

Sport, machinery, industrial design and contemporary architecture all became sources of inspiration.

Rather than simply reproducing traditional watch styles, BONEST GATTI began exploring watches with a stronger visual identity — combining mechanical complexity with unconventional case construction, openworked designs and modern materials.

2019 — A New International Structure

In 2019, BONEST GATTI entered another important period of transformation following a second acquisition by a Hong Kong-based watchmaking group.

The brand’s creative and operational structure was subsequently reorganized. A new international design team was formed, bringing together designers and watch professionals from Germany and China.

This change allowed BONEST GATTI to retain elements of its European design heritage while gaining access to the rapidly developing engineering, manufacturing and material capabilities of the Chinese watch industry.

Today, product development is carried out through this cross-cultural approach, while the assembly of BONEST GATTI watches is completed in China.

Design Without Borders

Modern BONEST GATTI is therefore not defined by a single country, but by the meeting of different watchmaking cultures.

German precision and structural thinking continue to influence the brand’s design language, while the Chinese team contributes contemporary engineering, manufacturing expertise and an increasingly experimental approach to materials and construction.

From skeleton movements and architectural cases to carbon fiber, crystal, ceramic and other modern materials, BONEST GATTI continues to explore the watch as both a mechanical object and a form of wearable design.

The brand believes that mechanical watchmaking should not exist only as a repetition of the past.
